Many people require general information on the implementation of modern Light Rail systems, often concerning the environmental benefits of modern tramways. LRTA logo LRTA Light Rail Transit Association has a detailed web site containing details of most modern system and a wide range of technical articles on light rail. They publish a monthly magazine Tramways and Urban Transit which contains regular technical articles, discussion material and world news on all aspects of light rail transit.

Taplin, Michael R. 1982 Light Rail Transit Today LRTA Light Rail Transit Association 0 900433 93 0 This readable book describes all aspects of designing a modern light rail transit system, fitting it into the urban environment and the resulting benefits. Although the examples are now a little dated, the general principles still apply.
